Great class! The instructor Chuck, and the two Marines Scott and Eric were very informative, and patient while teaching how to take my new gun apart, clean, and put back together. I left with a new gun cleaning kit, and feeling a step more confident with my awesome new Sig P365XL I purchased at Downriver Guns.

Chuck was great! Not only did we learn lots of information but he also gave us things to think about that wouldn't be where your mind usually goes ( what happens after you have to pull your weapon, ways to avoid having to pull in the first place, etc ) this is way more than how to hold your handgun and hit a target and I highly recommend it to anyone who plans to use a gun as home/personal defense!

I recently took a CPL at home defense class, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Chuck was an exceptional, instructor, knowledgeable, professional, and engaging. He made complex topics like firearm and safety, legal aspects, home defense tactics, easy to understand and applicable to real world situations. Chuck’s teaching style was perfect! He was thorough and approachable. He created a comfortable environment, where everyone felt confident, asking questions and learning. I walked away from the class feeling more empowered and knowledgeable about personal safety. I highly recommend Chuck’s class. I’ll definitely tell others. I sincerely cannot recommend Chuck Norton highly enough for not providing an excellent class, but for creating an amazingly enjoyable and engaging atmosphere. Throughout the entire class, he managed to continuously uphold the purpose of being a responsible gun owner and how to responsibly view firearms; as a tool that you should hope to not use, and only as a last resort after a multitude of de-escalation techniques have been employed. He did an exceptional job demonstrating verbal de-escalation (i.e. being very loud and bringing attention to a situation to ensure you have witnesses if an event takes place), providing examples of how us as individuals may perceive a threat and when one would defer to potentially using firearms for defense (e.g. car thief taking your property versus a carjacking with your child in the back). He did an amazing job from the first minute and to the last hour in discussing the mindset one should have when forced to engage someone while using a firearm; utilize the tool to neutralize a threat, never with the intention to kill. In fact, Chuck literally did not ever use the word kill until the last hour, where he read a slide that utilized that word. On top of his qualities as an instructor, he demonstrated through his words, actions, and anecdotes the amazing human being that he is. He is someone who not only takes the job and training seriously, but incorporates that mindset of safety, humility, and caring for the wellbeing of individuals in his everyday life. I am a non-religious person, but I still say that I am blessed to have been educated by such an amazing person, not just an amazing instructor. 11/10 - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great and entertainment instructor

Class was very informative. Chuck made sure to answer every question thoroughly. He gave us phone numbers for people who could answer any questions he could not. It was a very laid back setting. All around it was a great experience and I would definitely go back to further my training !!

This class taught me a lot more than I thought I knew. Chuck is great instructor. He is very passionate about what he teaches, he makes the class fun and I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested getting there Cpl. If you already have a Cpl still go check out downriver guns and ammo. Wide selection of fire arms and a awesome indoor range.
